Hi! I'm Josh Wilcox. I'm my current age old, and from Somerset, UK. Thanks for visiting! I'm a student in my third year at the University of Southampton, studying Software Engineering — an MEng. I've won the Netcraft prize twice, attaining a top 10 average mark of a 350+ Computer Science cohort in Year 1 (84.3%) and Year 2 (80.1%). I'm a Welfare Officer for ECSS — the Electronics and Computer Science Society, where I coordinate student welfare with university support services, and got Best Academic Impact — a SUSU award for my role as a course rep, being the bridge between students and faculty staff. I build software. My main project is CashCat — an open-source budgeting app I co-build with Indigo Nolan (check out his site too), plus smaller projects like a flashcards app used by 100+ students (25,000+ cards answered) and this site (React + TypeScript). I have experience. I interned at NCR Voyix — a return offer after work experience there, working on Voyix Edge — their edge-native application platform, adding observability features: percent-complete and download-speed tracking, built with Go on the backend, Kubernetes CRDs for an OCI image importer, and GraphQL to expose those metrics. Get in touch on LinkedIn (usually the fastest way) or GitHub (projects and repos), by email at portfolio@josh.software, or read my CV on this site. I blog here too — same expandable-pill layout as the rest of the site. More about me: what I've been listening to (top artists and tracks) and coding (recent activity). All my links in one place.
